Coupling
Slide Coupling (also known as Oldham Coupling) is a classic non-rigid coupling that transmits power through an intermediate sliding block structure. It features a three-piece design, consisting of two grooved hubs and a central cross-shaped sliding block, which compensates for radial misalignment through the sliding movement of the block within the grooves.
This coupling effectively compensates for significant radial offset (typically up to ±1mm or more). However, it should be noted that sliding friction occurs during operation, requiring regular lubrication and maintenance. Manufactured from metals (such as aluminum alloy/steel) or engineering plastics, it offers the advantages of simple structure and low cost. It is widely used in low-speed, medium-to-low torque transmission applications, such as CNC machine tools, conveying equipment, and printing machinery, where high compensation for radial deviation is required. Its drawback is the presence of backlash, making it unsuitable for high-precision servo systems.
